Steven Lovett

Steven Lovett, Managing Director of The Lovett Law Group, LLC, served as General Counsel and Vice President of Risk Management for Emporia State University before re-entering private practice and establishing LLG. For over 25 years, Steven has worked as legal counsel for a number of small and mid-size companies, engaged on a wide variety of corporate governance issues, employment law matters, compliance and regulatory issues, best practices, outside counsel management, strategic consulting, and business-to-business transactional matters. Steven has also provided litigation and appellate legal services to several government agencies. Steven is the author of Corporate Counsel Guides: Practice Basics (1st ed., ABA Publishing, 2013), an undergraduate textbook on applied ethics; and several trade and journal articles, book chapters, and scholarly papers. Steven has taught a variety of business law and international business law courses, along with business ethics, social responsibility, and sustainability at the undergraduate and graduate level, and has taught CLE courses for the National Business Institute for over 10 years. He is a member, or former member, of the State Bar of Kansas, the State Bar of Texas, State Bar of New Mexico, the American Bar Association, and federal bar associations. He earned his B.A. degree from Texas A&M University and his J.D. degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, in 1999.
